AN T-AISTEAR ~ THE JOURNEY
Module 1 (Seachtain/Weeks 1 & 2)
Landscape of Body - Songs of Return ~ Amhráin Fillte
The leaving is inevitable. The forgetting is part of the human condition. What matters is the longing to return, and the nudge to follow it. This module is a soft landing into some basic pronunciation (foghraíocht), songs (amhráin) & somatic resourcing practices.
Module 2 (Seachtain/Weeks 3 & 4)
Grief, Longing & Loss - Songs of loss, laments ~ Caointe, keening, vocal improvization & embodiment
Explore voice as a vehicle for moving through somatic and vocal obstacles, ancestral grief & the birth/death portal. These two weeks will invite you into relationship with any holding patterns of shame (náire), grief (cumha/dobhrón), and fear (faitíos) that arise with re-membering an Teanga.
Module 3 (Seachtain/Weeks 5 & 6)
Love songs, devotional praise ~ Amhráin Ghrá, Cráifeachta
Explore how the same somatic charge behind loss & longing can be transmuted into expressions of love & devotion, & how all points back towards the urge for reconnection, belonging & togetherness.
Beidh deis agaibh anseo d’amhráin/dán féin a scríobh/aistriú ~ here you’ll have the opportunity to write/translate your own songs/poems.
Module 4 (Seachtain/Weeks 7 & 8)
Re-populating the Void ~ Songs of Healing
Ag líonadh na bearnaí ~ filling in the blanks, these final two weeks will focus on building vocabulary, some basic grammar skills, and invite you into some intuitive vocalizing and somatic practices intended to build muinín (confidence) and support the continued desire to listen, remember, express and use the language in every way possible.
Scríobhfaimid ár gcuid dearbhaithe féin maidir leis an teanga~ we’ll write & translate our own affirmations and intentions regarding the language moving forwards, and we’ll learn some songs of healing and repair.

Faoi do Threoraí ~ About Your Guide
Is múinteoir íoga, ceoltóir agus gaeilgeoir í Jenny Ní Ruiséil, agus tá BA agus MA aici sa Nua-Ghaeilge ~ Jenny is a yoga teacher, musician and Irish speaker, and has a BA and MA in the Irish language.
“D’fhoghlaim mé mo chuid Gaeilge i nGaeltacht Chonamara agus mé i mo dhéagóir, trí cheol a chasadh agus aistriúcháin a dhéanamh ar amhráin ~ I learned my Irish as a teenager in the Connemara Gaeltacht, mostly through playing music and the translating of songs. It was only later in life having studied to become a yoga teacher and gone through a huge process of re-connecting to my body and the land of Ireland, that I finally recognised the inevitable link between our physical bodies, voices and the language that stems from the landscape that we live on.
I really believe that music & song carries memory, & just like the tissues & cells of the body, this memory can be accessed, moved, healed and sung into completion. The re-membering of the Irish language through movement, song & calling on devotional presence is a current that has woven through and beneath almost all of my offerings over the past 6 -7 years, and this course feels like a culmination of it.”
Jenny founded Ogham Yoga School this year and has launched 50hr and 200hr teacher trainings rooted in weaving together embodied remembrance, devotional practice and land connection.
